Stearns Race Timing, LLC has partnered with Gearhead Outfitters in Jonesboro Arkansas to bring the First Annual Gearhead Sprint Triathlon.
Craighead Forest Park located off Culberhouse Drive in South Jonesboro Arkansas will be the venue for the Gearhead Sprint Triathlon. Triathletes will Swim 500 yards in Craighead Forest Lake, Ride 10.2 miles along scenic Crowley's Ridge and Run one 2.6 mile loop on the park road.
The Gearhead Sprint triathlon will be a very beginner friendly tri. We plan small swim waves, A very well managed bike course and the park will be closed to traffic during the run.
Don't be deceived by the distances, this will be a short but very challenging race. The bike course will be rolling hills with a few climbs and the run course at the park has a very challenging climb about 1.5 miles into the run.
Each triathlete registered will receive a goody bag full of cool swag. A fun T-shirt as well as a performance race shirt, headsweat brand running hat and other swag from our sponsors.
USA Triathlon membership card and picture ID will be required for packet pickup. You must fill our USA Triathlon waiver at packet pick-up as well.
There will be early race packet pick-up on Friday May 6, 2011 from 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Downtown Gearhead Store 230 S. Main Street, Jonesboro Arkansas. You are highly encouraged to pick-up your packet on Friday.
Race day packet pick-up will begin Saturday May 7th at 6:00 am, with the transition area opening at 6:30 am. Check-in/registration will close promptly at 7:30 am, and the transition area closing at 7:45 am. First Swim wave will begin promptly at 8:00 am.
The cost of the Gearhead Sprint Triathlon is $60.00 through April 1, 2011 and $75.00 after April 1st for online registration. Online registration is available up to Thursday May 5 at 5:00 PM.
All participants must be USA Triathlon members or purchase a one day event license for $10.00
Mail in registration cost is $70.00 through April 1, 2011 and $85.00 after April 1st and must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2011 Race day registration will be $85.00. There will be no refunds of registrations.
